Ranking for highly commercial KW but not making a profit. Should I sell?

Hey guys. I’ve managed to rank my amazon affiliate site #6 in Google for a highly commercial keyword that has a search volume of 8K. For each sale, i should be making about $30 – $40 so you would normally have pretty high expectations.

The problem is that I haven’t really been making a profit. Daily, I’m getting about 20 – 30 visitors through google, and if i’m lucky, i might get a sale a week. Obviously this is not sustainable so i’m exploring my options.

I’ve already been offered $1000…

Is an high-end editorial to a blog post useful for ranking?

I’m negotiating a deal for a high-end editorial link.

The whole time I thought I was negotiating for a link homepage to my homepage, but I just found out that the editorial writer does not feel comfortable linking to my homepage (vapour cigarettes websites) and will only link to a blog post on the site (it is honestly a pretty shitty blog post too).

How much will this still help me linking too this crappy blog post instead of to the homepage? The price is $300 and it is DA83 news website….
